Exploring the Link Between Enjoying Clothing Content and Loving Pop Music

Have you ever wondered whether being interested in or enjoying content related to clothing tends to go along with enjoying pop music? Do people who follow fashion and clothing content show a stronger association with pop music fandom than those who don’t? When someone says they enjoy pop music, is it common for that preference to correlate with seeking out clothing-related videos, posts, or style inspiration? For instance, perhaps both interests cluster together because they often share the same trend-driven, visual, and celebrity-centered culture, but it’s also possible they aren’t strongly linked and simply overlap in some online communities. Understanding whether enjoyment of clothing content and pop music are connected can be useful for interpreting taste “bundles” in identity, media habits, and cultural preferences.

We've analyzed data from a study on 243 people in the the U.S., which we've used to explore these questions. Study participants were asked to what extent they agree with the statement "I am interested in or enjoy content related to clothing" and also to what extent they agree with the statement "I enjoy pop music".
